2005-08 Art Institude of Chicago, IL

8.26.2005

The last day of Jennifer’s summer visit, we decided to go to Chicago. We were going to see the Amish, but they only have the horse action on Fridays. It was just as well, since the Art Institute and the Russian Tea Time that follows took most of the day.
I found this year that Jennifer is the best person to go on vacation with. We never run out of things to say and boring things (like driving for 3 hours) turn into fun and memorable times. Museums are the best when it’s just the two of us. She never minded the fact that the museum shops are the only things I really look forward in seeing, and she tells great stories related to the exhibit which makes me want to stay longer. Having tea is another thing that is most enjoyable only with her. With the exception of the amount of sugar we take, we have almost identical preference in tea. It seems like we can take forever over two cuppa and scones, or museum walks, or long drives.
All in all, I’m going to miss her. For months I have been complaining about my life: wrong job, wrong house, wrong location, and it’s a shame that I just realized that last month and a half will probably be a lot better than the next month and a half. I guess that’s why I’ve always seen myself living in New York. It’ll be months before we can sit down and have our next cup of tea together.
