2002-07 Niagara Falls & Toronto Road Trip

7.26.2002-7.28.2002

My aunt and my two cousins, Jill and Joanne, came to visit us for a month in Michigan. During their stay, my family decided to take them to Canada for a visit. We rented a van and packed it with people (Jill, Joanne, Auntie, Grandma, Mom, Jason, and me).
The first day we drove almost all day to get to Niagara Falls. That night we saw the fireworks that was only showing on Fridays and Sundays. Next morning, we took some time to view the falls, then drove to Toronto. By the time we got to Toronto, it was pretty late already. We had dinner in Chinatown and walked around the mini mall. On the third day, we had more time to look around Toronto, but not enough since we set out to go back home in the afternoon.

Places visited:
Rock Table Complex, Skylon Tower, Casa Loma, The Beta Shoe Museum
Places didn’t (but would like to) visit:
Maid of the Mists, Spanish Aero Car, Toronto Zoo, CN Tower

ROCK TABLE COMPLEX
Direction: Next to the mall
Rock Table Complex includes various gift shops and food stores. Located right by the falls, the place is crowded with people. The Eurolink machines in Canada press EC’s on copper plates instead of pennies. The coins always come out looking very nice and beautiful (although they don’t scan well…)
SKYLON TOWER
Address: 5200 Robinson Street, Niagara Falls, Canada L2G 2A3
Dinning Reservations: (905) 356-2651
Web: www.skylon.com
The Skylon Tower is a bit further from the falls. Located on the hills, the top of the tower gives an okay view. In my opinion, unless you’re going up there to press pennies (or to have lunch/dinner, neither of what we did), it’s not worth your time.
There is an arcade down at the bottom of the tower, my brother enjoyed that part of the trip most.

CASA LOMA

This is one of the places that is marked “GEM” under AAA’s travel tour book. Also a place which my aunt was really interested in going. The museum is not enormous, but contains many shoes worn by famous people. Definitely a great place to visit even though there are no machines at this location.

2002-07 Casa Loma The largest castle in Canada!
Casa Loma is just large enough to be impressive but still small enough so that you can see everything in the castle, not get lost, and fully get to know the people who lived there through their audio guide.
