Can’t believe this…
February 28th, 2008
After my hunger has been satisfied (see previous post), I decided to unwrap the remaining presents.
What do I find in there? A HUGE bottle of Chanel Mademoiselle, something that’s been on my Wish List.
Ben and Sharon: If you’re reading this, thank you so much!!!! I can’t believe it’s been sitting in his car all this time!
Along with the perfume (and beef jerky), there was the Lucky magazine subscription, Godiva chocolate, and restaurant gift cards.
This boggles the mind… It’s almost March… What made him remembered, all of a sudden, that my Christmas presents were still in his trunk?
Mystery Meat
February 28th, 2008
I came home today and saw piles of neatly wrapped presents on the kitchen counter.
On closer inspection, I found that these were from Ben and Sharon. I was overjoyed to see my name on the gifts in one pile, but perplexed since the wrapping paper had Santa and Christmas angels on there. On the top of the pile, there were two small bags of beef jerky. The label showed that Ben and Sharon had purchased these special country cured jerkies by weight from their town.
This presented a big problem. I was starving and I love beef jerky, but SO was sleeping and was not available to explain the sudden and much belated appearance of our Christmas presents. I thought I’ll take my chances on the jerky and finished a package. After all, isn’t longevity the claim of fame for dried meats?
Something’s Happening…

I’ve been in RVLIS training all week (best time I’ve had for a long time… sad to say) and I’ve only been going back to the office each day after training lets out.
Today, Jay told me that we should find a way to divide Doug’s work. For some reason, I thought Doug had a mental breakdown at first. It seems like a reasonable assumption, since I feel like I’m about to have one every Monday. But it turns out that Doug isn’t going to come back to work for a while… he may never come back actually…
It’s so weird to be left in the dark. We don’t have a big group and I, for the most part, really enjoyed working with everyone. This is such a shock… I hope I’ll be able to find out what has happened.

Yup, that’s my brother.
Training Day
February 20th, 2008
I loath training days. I never sleep well the night before training.
Last night, just before midnight, I realized that I forgot to do the required reading. So I set my alarm for 5 AM, giving myself ample time to study prior to the 7:30 class. Well, I woke up at 1 AM, 2 AM, 3 AM, and 4 AM. By 4:45, I was so giddy that I couldn’t stand lying in bed for another minute.
I’m feeling absolutely retched after class. Tonight, we’re going to Andrews University to talk about how great it is to be an engineer… I’m not sure if I’m up to it…
Good Clean Fun

On my favorite radio station today, they were talking about this new restaurant trend in Japan.
It’s called the “Boys School” restaurants and it’s a comeback as the opposite of the previously trendy “Maids in Uniform” restaurants. The wait staff are attired in the school uniform, with button up shirts and thin ties. The decors are suppose to be school like, lined with bookshelves with pianos and guitars. They even changed their greetings to match with the atmosphere.
With my pen posed, I was ready to jot down the address and book my next vacation. At that moment, Glen called, asking about modification design inputs. By the time I hung up the phone, they have moved on to the next topic and started talking about Obama and his chances of winning the nomination.
Stories like these make listening to the radio worthwhile. I remember a similar story sometime last year when they discussed the Hong Kong “Kept List.”
The “Kept List” is a public list, compiled each year from the prices that rich men are willing to pay for the company of singers and movie stars. These aren’t divas, but maybe girls who had a couple of singles out that year. The story was about how the “Kept List” was extended to include millionaire women and boy bands. It’s touching to see the world moving towards gender equality.
Monday Morning Panic

Do you ever have the feeling that you’re working as fast as you can but work just come pouring in? By the time you finish one assignment, you realized there are two more that’s due.
I’m never going to be able to go to that RVLIS training… and that would have been so good on my poor nerves, just to get away from the desk for 2 weeks.
Neighborhood Kids
February 17th, 2008
Last summer, we made the unfortunate acquaintances with some of the kids that lives a few houses away from ours. The kids are fine, actually a couple of them are friendly to a fault. How do I put it… I guess it’s the parents and their idea of how many children is too many I have a problem with. Wait… I hold a personal grudge with the kids too actually. Last year, when I had the car accident in front of their house, NONE of the dozen kids called 911. They’d run back and yell to the house, then ran to the streets hurriedly, in case they missed something. I cannot express my disgust in words.
Anyway, so they would come over when Jason is around, asking if he can play (the answer is ALWAYS no). Lately they’ve been over with fund raising candies for a school trip.
I HATE fund raising candies. They taste HORRIBLE. SO never has the heart to say no, so we have to purchase a bunch of them to pad our garbage.
One of the girls always have this look on her face… The look as if she comes to our door often enough, I will ask her to come inside, then maybe tell her that she can come visit whenever, afterwards leave her the house keys… eventually pay for her college tuition and name her as the sole heir to my estate. I am always both amused and horrified to see her at my door.
So Much Work!!

Doug handed me a calc to review a while back.
Last week, when I bugged him to review a second 50.59, he asked me if I had looked at his calc yet. God, I had forgotten it completely. When I dug it out of the piles of paper on my desk, I realized that it’s been almost 3 weeks since the time he’s handed it to me.
The calc is not easy either. I think I’m getting used to the simple config changes that we make… this calc actually seems slightly intimidating. It’s an uncertainty calculation that needed revised after we changed the cycle from 12 to 24 months in ITS. It’s like starting a new calc all together since there are no rev bars… This is terrible.
Found Old Site

Seriously, Inuyasha has got to be one of the best shows since Friends. Anyway…
I found Maggie’s site today. I used to visit it all the time, until it was under construction and never came back up. Today, I had the absurd idea of google-ing her and see if she would like to sell her collection if she’s not actively collecting anymore. Well, it turned out that she probably is still an active collector. In fact, our sites are strikingly similar. We even use the same host…
