It went downhill when I hit a car on the way back from work. He’s okay, I’m okay, his car’s okay (the shift in the bumper is barely noticeable), and my car’s okay (I’m definitely not fixing a few scratches). Hopefully he’ll call me and tell me that everything’s good and have a good life.
I should have thought about how late it was before setting off to Gathland Park. When I hiked from Reno Monument to Lamb’s Knoll, I met a hiker going north who said it’s only a couple of miles to Gathland Park. I didn’t think I was hiking that slowly but by the time I turned around, it was getting dark. The sun was completely down during the last 30 minutes and I was at a crawling pace since I couldn’t see the trail or the trail markers. I thought that I’d fall and break a leg, knowing that I left my cell phone at the apartment. Or, if I’m really lucky, I’ll get back to my car and find someone had broke into it. Lovely thoughts like that usually come into my mind when I’m scared and nervous. Neither of those things happened, but my legs were like noodles when I started to drive home.
