We did it!! My first attempt at organizing events.
The Society of Women Engineers invited 100 middle school girls from St. Joseph and Benton Harbor for a day of engineering activities. Renata and I organized it (talking to schools, planning activities, ordering kits, setting up the location… ) and we had many volunteers helping on the day.
It turned out great! I think everyone had a great time.

Now… back to the nuclear plant for some midnight valve tests.

  1. Jennifer Says:

Oh cool! I’m glad it worked out well since you were so nervous about it.

  2. Janet Says:

    Yeah, I’m pretty happy also.
I had such a bad headache in the end. I wonder how the teachers deal with the kids all day long…
I think the thing that really saved us was the activities. If those were real boring, the kids probably would have gone wild by the end of the day.

  3. Katina Says:

Glad it went well. How many girls showed up? Did you have enough gift bags?

  4. Janet Says:

I’m not sure how many showed up in the end. I’ll need to check the sign up sheet. I’d say more than half who signed up showed up.
We still have a lot of the gift bags left over :(
Does Logan want a baby blue tank top? :D

  5. SO Says:

I think SO did a great job at this event. I was hanging on his every word!

  6. Janet Says:

    Uh huh… so was I.
You did great, baby. No doubt about it.
It’s too bad that you decided not to go with me to the SWE pot luck this weekend. You really would have gotten a lot more kudos there.
